The fourth ADELE LTTA hosted in Dublin

In October, LGMA Libraries Development welcomed 24 librarians from 9 different EU countries who are participants in the Advancing Digital Empowerment of Libraries in Europe (ADELE) project.

The week’s programme

The Learning, Teaching Training Week (LTTA) was opened on October 10th by LGMA CEO, Paul Dunne who welcomed the librarians and explained the remit and work of the LGMA. Stuart Hamilton, Libraries Head presented the new Public Library strategy which was followed by a Library Digital Strategy Deep-Dive, exploring key themes in break-out groups.

Wednesday’s theme ‘Sharing best practice to increase the use and support for Digital Tools in Ireland’ was also attended by Irish Adele participants and offered excellent knowledge exchange and networking opportunities. Ross Maguire, AWS/Learn-IT and Liz Corry, Tallaght Library presented on Think Big Space. Aoife Flynn from Meta talked about exploring partnerships and Maedhbh Rogan-McGann from Meath Libraries shared her experience in Laptops for Loan.

Library visits and cupcakes

Library visits included The National Library of Ireland and The Lexicon in Dun Laoghaire where the attendees enjoyed ADELE cupcakes! They also explored Kevin Street Library and the academic library in the Royal College of Surgeons. Their final day with the LGMA libraries team included a much-anticipated visit to Trinity College Library and the Book of Kells followed by a tour of MOLI – The Museum of Literature in Ireland.

This LTTA concludes the series of 4 training weeks organised within the context of the ADELE project. The previous 3 training weeks were hosted in Italy, Belgium and Bulgaria.
